Knitwear
Lambswool and merino from a mill that has run since 1923. Crews, roll-necks and cardigans in colours that do not date.
Old Mill District · independent since 2014
A small shop of considered, natural-fibre pieces — knitwear spun in a mill that has run for a century, trousers cut to take up or let out, coats built to outlast the trend that made them. We stock what we would wear ourselves, and not much else.
What you'll find

Lambswool and merino from a mill that has run since 1923. Crews, roll-necks and cardigans in colours that do not date.

High-rise trousers, soft overshirts and shirts cut a little relaxed. Hems left long so we can finish them to your leg.

Pressed-wool overcoats and unlined jackets, cut heavy enough to keep their line and last a decade of winters.
Why Maple & Thread
We started because we were tired of clothes that pilled after a season and could not be mended. So we buy small runs from makers we can name, favour wool, cotton and linen over synthetics, and only bring in a piece if we would happily wear it out ourselves.
Every trouser and coat comes with alterations included, done in the back room. Bring a piece back when a button goes or a hem drops — we would rather repair it than sell you another.
No pressure and no commission — browse as long as you like, and the fitting room is always free.
